Jonathan Adler, Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton

Jonathan Adler is a corporate partner in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.  He is a member of the firm’s Private Equity Group, Investment Management Group, Latin America and Africa Groups, and focuses his practice on advising sponsors of private investment funds, including buyout, growth capital, energy, infrastructure and credit funds.

In addition to his work with U.S. and European funds, Mr. Adler has also advised clients in establishing private equity funds, offices and joint ventures in various emerging markets, including Africa, India and South America. Mr. Adler’s recent experience includes acting for clients such as The Carlyle Group, Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, Crescent Capital Group, International Finance Corporation and AMC, KKR, Maritime Finance Company, Morgan Stanley, Nephila Capital, and Trimaran Capital Partners.

Mr. Adler joined the firm in 2005. He received a J.D. magna cum laude from New York University in 2005, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and a B.S. in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University in 2002. Mr. Adler is admitted to the Bar in New York.

 

Gavin Anderson, International Counsel, Debevoise & Plimpton

Gavin Anderson is international counsel in the Hong Kong office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.  He is a member of the firm’s Private Equity Group and Investment Management Group, and focuses his practice on advising sponsors and investors on a variety of investment management issues, and acts for a range of sponsors in their fund formation, co-investment and related activities.

Mr. Anderson’s recent experience includes acting for clients such as Baring Private Equity Asia, CDH Investments, D. E. Shaw, Global Infrastructure Partners, HarbourVest, Morgan Stanley, Navis Capital Partners, Southern Capital and Quilvest.

Prior to joining Debevoise in 2006, Mr. Anderson trained and worked as an associate at an international law firm in London.  Mr. Anderson earned his B.A. (Hons) from the University of Oxford (Brasenose College) in 2000 and PgDL from the College of Law at Guildford in 2001. He graduated from the Legal Practice Course at the Oxford Institute of Legal Practice in 2002.

 

Peter Furci, Partner, Debevoise & Plimpton

Peter Furci is a tax partner in the New York office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP.  He is a member of the firm’s Private Equity, Latin America and Family Enterprise Groups, and practices extensively in the area of private investment funds, including emerging markets, hedge, mezzanine, distressed debt, infrastructure and real estate funds.   Mr. Furci also concentrates on the tax aspects of a wide range of corporate transactions, including domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings and debt and equity securities offerings by US and non-US issuers. 

Mr. Furci joined Debevoise in 1995 and became a partner in 2003. He received his B.A. cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1992 and his J.D. magna cum laude from New York University in 1995, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif and the Tax Law Review. Mr. Furci also received his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University in 1999. Mr. Furci is proficient in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian. 

 

Matthew W. Howard, Counsel, Debevoise & Plimpton

Matthew W. Howard is a counsel in the Washington D.C. office of Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. He is a member of the firm’s Private Equity Group, Investment Management Group, Latin America and Africa Groups and focuses his practice on advising sponsors of open- and closed-ended private investment funds, co-investment funds and joint ventures that pursue a variety of investment strategies.

Mr. Howard’s recent experience includes acting for clients such as Argand Partners, Blackstone Alternative Asset Management, The Carlyle Group, D.E. Shaw, Gávea Investimentos, Intellectual Ventures, the International Finance Corporation and AMC, Odyssey Investment Partners, P2 Capital, Rockpoint Group, Tenaska and Vinci Partners.

Mr. Howard joined Debevoise in 2012. Mr. Howard received a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2004, where he was an Articles Editor for the Law Review and Co-Chair of the Law Review’s Diversity Committee. He received B.A. degrees in Religion and Political Science from Swarthmore College in 1999.
