Ivan Herger
Managing Director and Head of Solutions, Capital Dynamics

Ivan is a Managing Director and Head of Solutions, which includes Portfolio and Risk Management, Research, and Structuring, at Capital Dynamics. Since joining Capital Dynamics, he has analyzed and structured private equity portfolios for key clients worldwide. Previously, he was a lecturer and project manager at the University of Zurich. Ivan studied at the University of Basel and at St. Petersburg State University and holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Universiteit Utrecht, where he wrote his thesis on elementary particle physics and string theory.

 

 

Klaus Grünfelder
CFO and Managing Director, Siemens Venture Capital GmbH

Klaus joined Siemens Venture Capital in July 2010. Prior to joining SVC, Klaus was the Chief Financial Officer of von Braun & Schreiber Private Equity Partners in Munich.

From 2004 to 2007, Klaus held the position as Director Corporate Accounting and Controlling with Siemens AS in Norway and in the period between 2000 and 2004, he was Senior Financial Controller at Siemens AG Corporate Finance in Munich.

Between 1995 and 2000, Klaus was working as Senior Financial Controller and Financial Analyst at adidas Group Headquarter and as a Financial Audit Manager at Price Waterhouse Coopers and Mannesmann Group.

Klaus studied European Business Administration with a focus on Finance, Accounting and Strategy at Trier University of Applied Sciences, and TVU London, obtaining the degrees Dipl. Betriebswirt (FH) and M.A. Furthermore Klaus holds a CPA certificate.

 

Oliver Gottschalg
Associate Professor, Strategy and Business Policy, HEC School of Management

Oliver Gottschalg holds a Wirtschaftsingenieur Diploma from the University of Karlsruhe, an MBA from Georgia State University and a M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from INSEAD.

His current research focuses on the strategic logic and the performance determinants of private equity investments. A second stream of work looks at the implications of employee motivation for firm performance in different settings. In parallel to his faculty position at HEC, he is affiliated with INSEAD as a visiting researcher and the coordinator of the HEC Buyout Research program.

His work has been published in leading academic journals and in various publications for practitioners. He regularly presents his research at academic conferences and private equity symposia and serves as an advisor to leading investors in the private equity industry. At HEC, he teaches a core course on business strategy and offers an elective on Management Buyouts.
