Big Tech USD10b+ Commitment to AI/Cloud; US Startups Moving to India
Global Tech Brief
Talking Shop
Members of our Global Tech Council gathered last week to compare notes on the state of the market. Things to keep an eye on:
- Higher dealflow with adjusted expectations: Investors are expecting more – and better – teams to come to market in the second half of the year with more realistic valuation marks to get a deal done.
- 2023 was not the year for M&A, but 2024 is likely to be: Lack of asset value visibility put a pause on merger, acquisition and acquihire talks in 2023, but deals might come through in the last two quarters of 2024 with increased pricing certainty.
- US startups are moving to India: More than a handful of US late-stage companies are thinking about relocating to India as they consider listing in a friendlier public equity environment.
- An updated fundraising playbook in Asia: Chinese startups are setting up shop in Singapore via separate entities to their mainland holding to raise western capital.
- AI Funding as a Tale of Two Cities: Venture investors continue to see off-the-charts enthusiasm for anything AI-related in global markets… and very little for anything else.
Our data tracks similar trends – ping me to catch up.
Thanks to our Council members for participating.
