In January 2017, Actis launched Sprng Energy, an India-based renewable energy platform that delivers clean, reliable energy to electricity distribution companies across the country, with a total of USD475m in equity commitment.
With Actis’s support, Sprng became a sustainability leader in the renewable energy space. The oil & gas company Shell acquired Sprng in August 2022 at a USD1.5b enterprise value, tripling Shell’s renewable energy capacity globally.
