In May 2018, Linzor Capital Partners acquired a 53% stake in UTEL, a Mexican online university targeting the middle-income population.

In partnership with Linzor, UTEL developed new business lines, including an executive online course, a digital bootcamp and an online open course (UTEL X) that will be offered to the public for a monthly fee.

Since the time of investment, UTEL has opened enrollment centers in Peru, Colombia, Chile and Ecuador, with students outside of Mexico representing 17% of total new admissions. UTEL has also created 1,125 new jobs, representing 188% growth relative to the size of the company at acquisition, while the number of active students has climbed from 24,000 in 2018 to 47,000 as of September 2020.
