Jacob Haar co-founded CIM and serves as its Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer. He also serves on the Executive Committee of the Responsible Business Lending Coalition, which created the Small Business Borrowers Bill of Rights in 2015 and advocates for the financing rights for small businesses.

Previously, he was co-founder and Managing Director of Minlam Asset Management, an investment advisor which launched and managed the first global investment fund focused on providing local currency debt investment to micro, small, and medium enterprise lenders in emerging markets.

Prior to co-founding Minlam in 2005, Mr. Haar worked in Azerbaijan for Save the Children USA’s microfinance institution. Mr. Haar is a Fulbright Scholar, received a M.A. from the University of Chicago’s Center for Middle Eastern Studies and graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a B.A. from the University of Chicago.
