Joaquin Avila currently acts as Senior Managing Director and Co‐founder of EMX Capital. Prior to this, he served as Managing Director and Fund Head for Carlyle Mexico Partners of The Carlyle Group. Global Partner since 2008. Spearheaded opening of Carlyle office in Mexico in 2004, attracted current team and launched Carlyle Mexico Partners fund. Became sole head in 2007. Actively participated in the fund’s Investment Committee. Currently Chairman of the Board of Arabela. Participated in the structuring and execution of M&A and Fixed Income transactions. Active member of nonprofit organizations Dibujando un Mañana and Casa Alianza. M.B.A. from Yale University Graduate School of Business, an M.S. from Stanford University, and a B.S. from Universidad Iberoamericana School of Civil Engineering.
