Johanna is Founder and Managing Partner of Elevar Equity, a Human-Centered investment firm focused on emerging countries. With over $280 million in assets under management across four funds, Elevar Equity has been at the forefront of impact investing since 2006. The Elevar Method of investing has democratized essential products and services for over 30 million low-income households in India and Latin America, by investing early growth capital in entrepreneurs and businesses that demonstrate a direct correlation between high impact and returns.

Johanna has 20 years of emerging markets investing, corporate finance, and economics and has long been involved in economic development. She founded Elevar in 2008 and has partnered with, and invested in, companies which are today some of the biggest providers of financial services, MSME oriented services, and education to disconnected and underserved communities in India and Latin America. She currently serves on the Board of Favo (Peru /Brazil), Canasta Rosa (Mexico), VI-DA Tec (Argentina), Bankingly (Uruguay), Bedu (Mexico), Nuvemshop (Argentina/Brazil), Afluenta (Latam), and Finae (Mexico). She also sits at the Global Board of non-profit NeSst and as a member of the advisory board of Capria. Johanna began her career as an Economist with the Central Bank of Mexico, and later worked as a Senior Financial Specialist at ExxonMobil’s Exploration Company. Prior to Elevar, she joined the Capital Market’s team at Unitus Inc., where she worked to raise the Unitus Equity Fund L.P., as well as on debt financing structures for several microfinance companies around the globe. She has an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a degree in Economics from the ITAM (Mexico).
