In July 2015, Earlybird Digital East led a USD1.6m seed round for UiPath, then a Romania-based robotic process automation (RPA) startup.
With Earlybird’s support, UiPath added new capabilities, including process and task mining, task capture, document understanding and third-party integration frameworks, and began expanding internationally. Earlybird helped UiPath open offices in London, New York, Bangalore, Paris, Singapore, Washington, DC and Tokyo in order to be closer to its target customer base of established global enterprises with thousands of employees.
Since Earlybird’s initial investment, UiPath has grown from 10 engineers operating out of one office in Bucharest to a New York City-headquartered global company with nearly 3,000 employees across 40 offices. At the time of its IPO on the NYSE in April 2021, UiPath was valued at more than USD35b.
Earlybird Digital East was awarded GPCA’s Deal of the Year Award for its investment in UiPath.
